Blackpool & The Fylde Timber Gates Ltd.
1. We offer a 12 month guarantee on the workmanship of our products. This covers the joints on our timber gates. It is important to note that timber is a natural living product and therefore is susceptible to environmental changes which is beyond our control. Extreme temperatures and changes in humidity can cause a reaction in external timber, such as the opening up of the grain or swelling of the boards, and more than likely this will return to normal.
2. We cannot offer any guarantee against warping, swelling, twisting, bowing, splitting or any other kind of movement, appearance of knots. Cracks in timber often called checks, happens when timber settles and doesn’t affect the integrity of the gates.Softwood does contain natural knots and resin pockets. Knot bleed can occur over time and can cause some discolouration. This is a natural characteristic of timber and does not indicate a fault in the product so please do not worry.
We do not accept liability and would not be able to offer refunds for any of these issues.
3. Changes to the natural timber can occur, although stored correctly and dry and we ensure all gates are fully framed for extra strength. Once installed, that’s when the gates will adjust to the environment.
4. Please note that if your gate is sprayed in house by us, this is not included in the guarantee.
We have tried and tested many products and have picked high quality wood treatment. Please see our after care advice. Any questions please ask. Don’t forget you can purchase both uv oil and premium wood treatment through us at any time. Regular maintenance is required on soft wood gates. Hardwood gates don’t need a much after care but still need maintenance.
5. When we spray your gates in house, we treat the tongue and the groove as well as the whole of the boards and then the frame. Then once made, two coats are applied and a clear top coat. All cut ends are treated with the product.
6. All timbers are pressure treated, if you don’t opt for the premium treatment and choose either pressure treated green (tanalised) or brown (Tanatone) any cut ends are treated with end grain sealer and anything routererd is treated with the pressure treated treatment from the sawmill.
7. All fixings used are stainless steel/black stainless steel. This means you will not get that nasty rust run off down the boards or around the screws in your hardware.
8. We offer galvanised or our premium black on galvanised for a more modern look. The premium black gate furniture is hot dipped galvanised which has then been powder coated in a black finish. This can flake off and can need touching up for aesthetic purposes. However galvanised hardware is far superior and it is highly resistant to rust, rather than the standard black on steel hardware which can rust very quickly. (We do not use anything zinc plated or black on steel as will rust straight away being by the coast.)
9. Although we don’t have a shop/show room, you are welcome to come and visit us and see the upcoming work we are working on. We do ask that you arrange with us a day and time. This is purely because it’s just the two of us and we spend half our time fitting our gates.
10. We recommend that you thoroughly inspect the goods on delivery/collection . Any defects should be reported to us immediately. We cannot accept any liability for defects brought to our attention after the gates have been installed. Unless being installed immediately upon delivery, the gates must be stored flat until installation.
